ICLEI Canada is launching a new Adaptation Initiative in the fall of 2010, offering cities the opportunity to implement the new Changing Climate, Changing Communities Guide in real-time over the course of 2 years, with facilitation, support, and direction from ICLEI Canada staff.

The Initiative will not only provide cities with a locally developed Climate Change Adaptation Plan, but will also build capacity internally for ongoing implementation and monitoring. The initiative will highlight the key mechanisms available to local governments to utilize and drive local action on climate change adaptation. Participants will finish the program having been involved with all stages of plan development, implementation and review; and staff will be empowered to continue the iterative process of improving their municipalities adaptive capacity.
