Quirimbas Community Carbon Project
The Quirimbas Community Carbon Project, designed and managed by Envirotrade Carbon Limited, operates in and around the Quirimbas National Park, Cabo Delgado Province, Mozambique. The project has entered into a binding memorandum of understanding with the Government of the Republic of Mozambique to provide REDD+ protection to a core conservation block of 125,800 hectares of old-growth Miombo forest within the QNP. Supporting the core REDD+ project in the QNP, the project has engaged with local subsistence farming communities in and around the park since 2008 to plant trees and to improve agricultural yields through conservation farming and other techniques. The base camp of the project is located near Macomia, Cabo Delgado Province, but uses the postal address of the Envirotrade Mozambique country office in Chimoio, Manica Province.
