Brite Solar has developed a 3rd-generation (DSSC) PV technology based on new composite organic/inorganic nanostructured materials, at very competitive cost for usage as power producing windows for homes and office buildings. Solar windows are an important niche application for the BIPV sector and the glass industry. Windows are the weakest part of a building’s envelope for controlling internal temperature. With PanePower™ Solar Windows, a building’s energy envelope will be positively influenced due to extra clean energy generation that will not only offset the insulation losses of common glass windows but will also reduce the energy consumption needs of the entire building, both in summertime and wintertime.
Environmental Benefits: Reduction of CO2 equivalent emissions and other indirect associated pollutants, due to the avoidance of electricity production from fossil fuels. Minimization of raw material amount used in production. Decentralization of power generation thus minimising the losses on electricity grid due to long distance lines. Good aesthetic effects on homes and city- town buildings thus minimization of visual disturbance.
